Unintended Consequences
The use of and overlay of real-time commentary and reaction with news and events is bound to have many useful benefits, as well as interesting and perhaps adverse side effects.
“… For those prone to theorize, there are many fascinating questions to ponder. For example, the uncertainty principles states that the position and velocity of an atomic particle becomes less certain as that of another becomes more certain. If the analogy holds true, then does the veracity or truthfulness of news become less certain as the velocity of interest becomes more measurable. Likewise, what effects will the integration of the real-time stream have on the outcome of events, and how can conditions be influenced to ensure specific outcomes…”
“The new QuickTime X includes support for Apple’s HTTP live streaming protocol, which was released first for iPhones in June.

Using HTTP instead of traditional linear streaming technologies will allow content providers to provide more reliable and consistent video experiences - video can be streamed from normal web servers and dynamically adjusts based on network conditions.
Other video improvements in QuickTime X include a new player that allows users to capture and edit directly and then share on YouTube, MobileMe and iTunes and export to play them on iPhones and Apple TVs. And Apple promises smoother and quicker video playback of modern formats, as well as a 2.4-times faster launch, and better color reproduction.”

Tumblr announced an improvement to an existing tag feature. Tagged posts automatically generate #hashtags that collect similar posts into a group. The hashtags are displayed below your post and link to a page containing other posts with the same tag.
Because there’s 650,000+ posts being published daily, Tumblr allows you to sort these by relevancy including most liked and most reblogged with a cool slider. The feature is still in development so there may be a bug or two.

Also Tumblr is working on direct integration with Facebook, where Tumblr content can be posted directly to Facebook pages and profiles.

TidySongs automatically scans your iTunes library for duplicates, missing cover art, and poorly formatted, misspelled, or otherwise wrong track and artist information. The application can automatically fix song info, organize genres, fix duplicates, and find missing or incorrect album art, or can just point out errors so you can fix them manually.
TidySongs works by automatically looking up a song in their online music database and downloading the correct details for each song. You can choose to fix songs one-at-a-time so you can see and edit the details before saving them or choose to fix songs automatically.
